For any teaching post of the current school year, an applicant may submit an application anytime throughout the school year. At the end of the current school year, an email would be sent to the applicant asking the applicant to confirm if he/she would like to keep the personal particulars in the database for the application of upcoming posts.

If the applicant has not confirmed keeping the personal particulars in the database, all data submitted by applicant may be discarded at the end of the current school year.

Information submitted by the applicant will be sent to the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan schools for their reference. If there are any suitable vacancies, the schools may contact the applicant direct by phone for an interview.

The applicant is not required to attach the relevant documentary proof of academic qualification or teaching experience when submitting the application, but he/she must bring along the relevant documents for the scrutiny of schools when attending interviews. If the applicant possesses non-local academic qualifications, he/she must apply for the qualification assessment from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) in advance to ascertain that he/she has fulfilled the academic requirements for the teaching posts concerned.

If the applicant is invited to attend an interview by school, he/she is required to bring along the following documents for scrutiny:

- the original Hong Kong Identity Card;
- the original and copies of academic qualifications such as degree certificate, transcript, Teacher’s Certificate or other teacher training certificates, HKDSE Examination Certificate or HKCEE Certificate and / or HKALE Certificate, HKCAAVQ assessment result (if applicable);
- the original and copy of Basic Law Test Result (applicable to teachers applying for monthly-paid temporary teaching posts);
- the original and copies of letters of release issued by schools the applicant has served:
- the original and copy of Certificate of Registration as a Teacher, if any; and
- the original and copy of vaccination records.

The Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan schools must be in line with the government anti-epidemic policies and have implemented measures in that regard. Each applicant is required to comply with these measures and must have fulfilled the COVID-19 vaccination requirements in order to be considered for appointment.

Starting from the 2022/23 school year, in order to be considered for appointing as teachers within the approved establishment and monthly-paid temporary teachers in public sector schools, the applicant is required to obtain a pass in the Basic Law Test conducted by the Civil Service Bureau or the Education Bureau. The Education Bureau attaches great importance to the professional conduct of teachers. Each applicant who has committed a serious crime or illegal act or involved in professional misconduct, including receiving reprimand / warning / advisory letters issued by the Education Bureau, or having his/her teacher registration status being cancelled / his/her application for teacher registration being refused by the Education Bureau, MUST clearly declare in this application.

The Education Bureau has accepted the recommendation of the Law Reform Commission to establish the Sexual Conviction Record Check (SCRC) scheme and the Hong Kong Police Force has launched the scheme since 1 December 2011. The scheme is only applicable to prospective employees seeking child-related work or work relating to mentally incapacitated persons in organization or enterprises (including schools). Given the importance of protecting our students, schools should adopt the scheme and request prospective employees to undergo SCRC at the advanced stage of the employment process. Application for SCRC should be submitted by the prospective employee voluntarily. Details of the SCRC scheme are available at the Hong Kong Police Force homepage (http://www-police.gov.hk/scrc).

Any teacher who has participated in the Early Retirement Scheme (ERS) for aided school teachers or in the ERS for teaching grades staff in the Education Bureau is not allowed to take up full-time or part-time teaching posts (including those created by government funds for the purpose of providing additional teachers to schools, but excluding those teaching posts on daily-rated part-time jobs not more than 89 days) in aided, caput, direct subsidy scheme and government schools after the date of early retirement.

(a) The personal data provided in this form will be used by the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan schools for one or more of the following purposes:
- employment-related purposes;
- provision of education services:
- conducting research and compiling statistics to facilitate planning of education services;
- dealing with matters relating to the development of the education profession;
- administering and enforcement of the Education Ordinance and Regulations (Cap. 279)
(b) The provision of personal data by means of this e-form is obligatory. The application will not be considered if the applicant fails to provide these data.
(c) The personal data collected in this application may be disclosed to schools / sections / departments / agencies authorized to process the information for purposes mentioned above.
(d) The applicant has the right to request access to and correction of personal data as provided for in Sections 18, 22, and Principle 6 of Schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. The right of access includes the right to obtain a copy of personal data provided in this application. This is however subject to payment of a fee.
